Agave salmiana

Probably most commonly encountered under the ssp ferox, this is fairly widely grown in the southwest and is an absolute stunner.  It has very broad, very thick, very tough leaves in a very dark green, very large teats ( see above ) and large teeth and grows into large open rosettes maybe 2m across.  Large, really.  One of the most architectural and one of the best (1999 )
